1998 Ensemble cast in contemporary romantic comedy LONDON — An ensemble cast of hot young British actors, including Catherine McCormack and last year’s Cannes award-winner Kathy Burke, has signed to star in the low-budget romantic comedy “This Year’s Love.” The pic, which started shooting Wednesday in London, marks the feature debut of director David Kane, who also penned the original screenplay. It’s a study of modern urban relationships, following the story of three London couples who interchange partners over the course of three years. In addition to Burke, who won the best actress prize at Cannes for “Nil by Mouth,” and McCormack, who shot to fame in “Braveheart,” the cast includes Ian Hart (“Michael Collins”), Jennifer Ehle (“Wilde”), Emily Woof (“The Woodlanders”), Dougray Scott (“Regeneration”) and Douglas Henshall (“Angels and Insects”). The film is produced by Michele Camarda of the Kismet Film Co., which previously made “Photographing Fairies.” It is financed by the leading U.K. indie distrib Entertainment Film Distributors in return for worldwide rights, and marks a further move by Entertainment into production after the U.K. box office success earlier this year of its first low-budget pic “Up ’n’ Under.” ©2000, Variety, Inc |
