This very talented Scottish rock group
first came to my attention when I heard their song "Put
Your Arms Around Me" during the end-credits of Ever
After. Their sounds are a soft rock with an American
south-western influence at times.
This Irish family group blends
traditional Celtic music with pop which results in a haunting
and soothing sound. Perhaps you heard their song "I
Will Find You" in The Last of the Mohicans or the
theme to the 1980s TV show Robin Hood.
Enya Brennan is the
youngest sister to the Brennan's of Clannad and a former member
of the group. Her distinctive style more resembles new age
than Celtic folk, but it's worth definitely worth listening too.
Unfortunately, when
most people think of bagpipes, they think of a loud screeching
sound. However, in the right hands (and mouth), the bagpipes can
produce beautiful music. There are actually many different
kinds of bagpipes - and not all of them are Scottish. The
Scots mainly use the Highland
bagpipes, Lowland pipes, Small
pipes and Chamber
pipes. The Irish have their own kind of bagpipes
called Uillean pipes.
