Watch
the opening sequences of "M:I-2" and you'll see his first
cousin, William Mapother, playing a villain's henchman and
working a laptop in back of the plane. This is the biggest part
Cousin Bill has had in a Cruise movie to date, and he also gets a
"special consultant" credit.
In the
final fight scene, Tom Cruise actually makes contact with
with Dougray's jaw and issues him a hard punch.
Dougray has filmed in Syndey before "M:I-2". He was
there
several weeks, back in 1995 while appearing in the 5th season of
the British TV Drama, "Soldier
Soldier" where he played Major Rory
Taylor

The title song being playing in he background during Tom's rock
climbing scene is IKO IKO by the band Zap Mama. It's not on
the
soundtrack sold here in the States but it is on the
European
release of the soundtrack. Tom must really love that
song Iko
Iko,because he also used it in Rain Man.

for the intel!
The sunglasses that contain Tom's self-destructing mission are
Oakley
Romeos; when he tosses the exploding glasses over a
cliff ("very good product shot," says one retail
analyst), he's
throwing away $275. He wears $70 Fives in the climactic
motorcycle chase. Will M:I-2 make publicly traded Oakley's
year?
Analysts say yes. Sales of Ray-Ban Wayfarers soared
post-Risky
Business, as did Aviators after Top Gun. But Oakley might
not
reap all the profits: Times Square street vendors are
hawking
$10 Romeo knockoffs (2 for $15). The frame is plastic, not
a
special alloy of 20 metals, and the 'l' in Oakley wore off
within 24
hours. - Thanks Barbara
for the report!
The motorcycles used in the chase scene are Triumph
Speed
Triples, according to BenDavid's
M:I-2 website.

The car driven by Tom Cruise in the chase scene, is
a Porsche
911 Carrera Cabriolet.

Dougray's
computer/monitor are made by Swedish company
MultiQ - www.multiq.com
The actual model featured in M:I-2 is
MultiQ's PC Monitor which incorporates a standard computer
into
the actual flat screen itself. Very stylish.
The BioCyte building Tom descends into is actually a real office
building here in Sydney - The Governer Phillip Tower is
hard to
miss with its high tech looking card-stack roof. The lobby
and
entrance to the Governer Phillip Tower were also used in
the
movie.
Dougray's beautiful house was actually a real house
built
SPECIFICALLY for the movie. See The
House that Hollywood
Built at exotics.com.
- Thanks to Ashley
from OZ for the above 3 bits of trivia!
Dougray
was originally slated to play Wolverine in X-Men, but
had to pull out when M:I2 shooting went overtime
Sean Ambrose's line about the
perils of imitating Ethan Hunt
("grinning like an idiot every 15 minutes") is
reminiscent of
dialogue exchanged between Castor Troy & Sean Archer, who
both disguised themselves as each other in Face/Off.

John Woo's final cut of the film clocked in at 3 1/2 hours. The
studio balked at this length and told him that the final length
could not exceed 120 min. This could explain why there are so
many plot holes and continuity errors in the theatrical cut.
