Dougray Stops Stirling Traffic

‘MISSION Impossible’ star Dougray Scott stopped the traffic in Stirling town centre last Wednesday.

Stewart’s Antiques was transformed into a bustling film set, populated by more than 70 actors and crew filming the star’s latest flick ‘The Bum’s Rush’.

And diversions were put in place in Dumbarton Road to avoid the din of traffic interfering with filming in the store’s alleyway.

Directed by Stewart Svaasand and also starring ‘Small Faces’ actor Iain Robertson, ‘The Bum’s Rush’ is about three friends who strike gold in the Highlands.

Scott’s main involvement is as producer but the scene filmed in Stirling sees a cameo appearance from the ’Enigma’ star as a market trader.

Shop owner Ramoyne Watson-Fargie said a BBC employee tipped off producers about the store’s suitability for filming.

She said: “We have a long-standing relationship with the BBC, supplying props for programmes like ‘Monarch of the Glen’ and ‘River City’.

“The director flew in from Sweden a while back to see us and thought it would be ideal here because of the cobbled alleyway we have.

“The crew were here for a week before, painting the set and putting up props.

“Then they were here filming all day last Wednesday but the scene will probably only be about five minutes long.”

Scott, who has twins of his own, spent time with Mrs Watson-Fargie’s twins Nathan and Taylor and other children on the set.

“Dougray Scott was brilliant,” said Mrs Watson-Fargie.

“He stopped to give out autographs and talk to the children.

“The whole experience has given us a taste for film. We would love to do more work like this.

“In fact, it was difficult going back to everyday life after all the excitement.

“We are looking forward to seeing the film.”
