| November 26, 2001 Evening Times (Glasgow) Dougray inspired by brave Johanna author unavailable MOVIE star Dougray Scott has hailed brave Johanna MacVicar for giving him a new outlook on life. The Enigma heart-throb was Evening Times columnist Johanna's VIP guest at the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust annual ball on Friday night at the Holiday Inn in Glasgow. And his appearance helped raise (pounds) 26,000 to recruit more volunteers to the charity's bone marrow register. Fife-born Dougray said Johanna, who suffers from leukemia, had been an inspiration to him during a recent film role. He said: "I met Johanna last year before filming my movie where my character is in a similar position as herself. "Jo is very open about her life and extremely positive. The time we spent together was invaluable not only towards the success of my character but it made me look at life from a whole new perspective. I Johanna is getting used to mingling with Britain's A-list celebrities - just months ago she persuaded pop superstar Robbie Williams to join the bone marrow register. She said she was delighted Dougray and his wife Sarah agreed to attend the ball. Johanna, 24, of Bishopton, said: "Dougray is great fun, has a big heart and is more than willing to help in any way he can." She said the money raised was vital to help attract bone marrow donors. Johanna added: "It costs the trust (pounds) 50 to recruit one person to the register. So that's another 520 potential donors and possibly many lives saved by a night of fundraising."
