Dougray's so casual
by Gavin Docherty
HIBS' most famous fan is switching sides - to become
an ENGLISH hooligan!
Hollywood pin-up Dougray Scott will pull on his Doc
Martens to play a Chelsea thug in a new film about the darker side of
the beautiful game. The Fife-born Mission Impossible and Enigma actor
is to star in The Football Factory, which has just gone into
production in the UK.
Dougray will juggle his commitments to star in the
new project as well as the Scottish crime caper Bum's Rush, which he
will produce as well as appear in a cameo role.
Tough guy Sean Bean and ex-Bad Manners singer Buster Bloodvessel will
also appear in the movie which has been adapted from the best-selling
novel by John King, whose savage true tales of football violence sent
shockwaves through English soccer.
The film's central character, Tom, is a vicious soccer casual who
lives for the Saturday pre-and-post-match violence.
His club colours and getting steamed in to the rival fans on a match
day are more important than his family, his job and the score of the
game.
The raw descriptions of violence and sex resulted in King's work
becoming a cult novel among soccer fans.
The film is shooting for five weeks in London and South Africa.
