Hollywood star Dougray chooses Tomintoul for new film setting

Filming on the first feature
film to be shot in Moray is expected to get under way in just over a
week's time.
The film, The Bums' Rush, will be shot on location in Tomintoul from
November 18.
Hero Films which is co-owned by Hollywood star Dougray Scott is to
produce the film, with Scott also appearing in a cameo role.
The Enigma star will be joined by Elgin actor Kevin McKidd, who
appeared in Trainspotting, Jamie Sives from the BBC drama Rockface,
and Iain Robertson, who appeared in The Debt Collector and Small
Faces.
A black comedy, The Bums' Rush follows the fortunes of three friends
after they find gold in a remote Highland location. Local councillor
Bob Wilson is delighted Tomintoul has been chosen as the location for
the film.
He said: "It is quite a coup for Tomintoul and it will be a big
benefit to the area.
"I do believe the village was exactly what they were looking for. It
has caused two hotels to open to cater for the crew at a quiet time of
the year, which can only be a good thing.
"They will be using local houses in the film, and I believe they are
taking their own snow machine in case we don't have enough."
It is estimated the income generated by accommodation for the crew
will be in the region of £10,000.
Because Tomintoul is quite remote, it is thought the economic boost
will spill out into other areas of Moray.
About 70 cast and crew will descend on Tomintoul for around five
weeks.
There has been no release date set for the film as yet.
