Football: Scott will see poetic justice in a Hibs win
by Kenny MacDonald

HIBS fan and Hollywood heartthrob Dougray Scott reckons another Edinburgh demolition derby would be the perfect script for him.

The Scots actor will take his place at Easter Road for Sunday's showdown and insists the Hibees will hammer Hearts in revenge for the 5-1 drubbing earlier this season.

And the Mission Impossible star, who has just returned from Europe after filming his role as a Russian assassin in The Poet, prefers to recall his side's 6-2 thrashing of their capital rivals for inspiration on how his heroes can be on target this time.

He revealed how he almost crashed his car as Hibs took a pounding in the first derby clash this season.

Scott said: "I was driving from Munich to Vienna while working on The Poet and I was getting the game texted to me in the car.

"But I was screaming myself hoarse as the goals were coming in. It was awful and that 5-1 result still hurts. But we can make up for it on Sunday.

"I have been abroad working so it has been a while since I saw a game but I keep in touch with the manager, Bobby Williamson, and we are good friends.

"I rate Bobby incredibly highly and I always knew he would turn things around. It was always going to be hard because, unfortunately, you can only deal within the parameters you have.

"And the parameters of the club meant none of the money made it's way into his budget, which is not unusual at a football club.

"I know the fans were singing Frank Sauzee's name just a few weeks ago before we went on this great run.

"I love Frank Sauzee as well but Bobby is working really hard and has got us the results we need. He is a good friend, like big Alex McLeish is, and I keep in touch with them both."

Scott told how he still savours that sensational 6-2 derby day win by Hibs two seasons ago.

He said: "I saw that one and it was the best feeling in the world. Now we can make up for that 5-1 game on Sunday and I reckon we really do owe them another heavy defeat."

Scott is back in Scotland to promote a £2.5million campaign to build a leukaemia research lab at Gartnavel Hospital.
