MILAN -- John Malkovich and
Dougray Scott are in advanced negotiations to co-star in
"Ripley's Game," which Italian helmer Liliana
Cavani will direct for Fine Line Features.
Pic, set to shoot in January in the Venice area, is
based on the third novel in Patricia Highsmith's Ripley
series. Anthony Minghella's "The Talented Mr.
Ripley" was adapted from the first book.
In "Ripley's Game," set near Paris a couple
of decades after the first film, Ripley is now married,
wealthy from all his criminal activities and in need of an
assassin to kill two rivals. He enters a Faustian pact
with a leukemia-stricken English picture-framer who needs
the money for his family.
