Tim Roth and Dougray Scott to star in Cromwell biopic
author unavailable
Tim
Roth is set to play Oliver Cromwell in a new film about
the 17th-century revolutionary.
|

|
Screendaily
reports that Roth, who was most recently seen
under rather a lot of fur in Planet of the
Apes, is in final negotiations to play
England's Lord Protector in Cromwell and
Fairfax. Dougray Scott, currently on cinema
screens in Enigma, has been lined up to play
the royalist general, Fairfax, with Mike
Barker set to direct. |
The Natural Nylon production is due to start filming
in January and Screendaily reports that the company has
"cut a deal" with Equity to
"side-step" the planned actors' strike which,
it is feared, could affect most films in production at
that time.
Cromwell and Fairfax is one of eight European films
which are to be made under a deal between British
production company IAC and LA production and financing
operation Corsan. Other films include Spoils, a second
world war drama starring Linda Fiorentino, and Charles
V, about the 16th-century Spanish monarch.
