Tim Roth tapped for Natural Nylon's $23m Cromwell
by Adam Minns in London
Tim Roth is in final negotiations to play 17th century English
revolutionary Oliver Cromwell in IAC Film's Crowmell And Fairfax.
Roth will star opposite Dougray Scott, who plays general Fairfax.
Mike Barker is directing the $23m Natural Nylon production, which is to
shoot in January after cutting a deal with UK actor's union Equity to
side-step its planned strike.
The title is one of eight European films in a slate deal between IAC
and LA and Brussels-based production and financing operation Corsan. IAC
has worldwide rights on the $20m Spoils, starring Bruce Greenwood
and Linda Fiorentino. Nicholas Meyer will direct the post WW2 story
about a heist early next year in Germany, Luxembourg and the US. IAC and
Corsan are also partnering on Charles V, an epic story about the
sixteenth century king.
Other recent additions to IAC's line-up include Secret Passage,
a $21m Spanish inquisition story starring John Turturro and Tara
Fitzgerald, and Carolina, which Miramax Films has for the US.
IAC has postponed plans to float on London's Alternative Investment
Market until the middle of next year. "Market conditions made it
difficult so we decided to wait," said IAC's Guy Collins.
