The Age (excerpt) by Anthony Barnes, PA London Co-star Dougray Scott arrived with his wife Sarah Trevis and the couple shared a kiss in the cinema foyer. Adding glamour to the event was another of the stars, the towering Saffron Burrows, who wore a floor-length black Armani gown and she spoke warmly of Jagger for bothering to turn up on set in all weathers. "The unusual thing about Mick was that he was there. Mick turned up with his mac and stood around in fields getting wet,'' she said. Jagger's daughter Elizabeth and her friend Leah Wood - daughter of Rolling Stones' band mate Ronnie - make brief appearances in the movie and put in an appearance at the screening. Jagger's father was also there to lend his support and said he was proud of his son, although he reserved judgment about the rocker's cameo appearance: "I haven't seen it yet.'' Enigma, based on the best-selling book by Robert Harris, tells the story of the wartime code-breakers who were based at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire. The prince chatted and laughed with members of the cast as he was introduced to them by Jagger. He was also presented with a souvenir program by Elizabeth. Prince Charles was introduced to 17-year-old Kelly Haag, who has benefited from one of the Prince's Trust projects. Inside the auditorium, Jagger introduced the film and thanked the audience for helping to raise more than STG100,000 ($A273,000) for the Prince's Trust. Each member of the audience had paid up to STG300 ($A820) for a ticket. Jagger said after speaking to the prince: "He was in good form and had a laugh with us all.'' Director Michael Apted dedicated the film to spirited New Yorkers who were picking up their lives after the terror attacks. "I flew in from America last night. There is a great deal of strength of spirit there and numerous stories of the many, many people who are trying to save lives,'' said Apted. "The mayor Rudolph Giuliani was telling people to go out and visit friends and pick up their lives. And it is in that spirit that I introduce Enigma.'' turned out for the event and explained Kate’s absence with these
words: “She’s not afraid of terrorism but she is afraid of the
British press. She’s having a bit of a problem, I think, being in the
limelight.” © 2001, HELLO! All rights reserved |
