occasionally has to kill people or do his little frauds or
little scams when the need or opportunity present itself

RIPLEY RETURNS
John Malkovich and 'Mission: Impossible 2's' bad guy Dougray
Scott have started filming the
follow-up to the 1999 hit thriller, 'The Talented Mr.
Ripley.'
'The English Patient director Anthony Minghella cast Matt
Damon as Ripley in "The Talented Mr. Ripley,"
which was based on a series of books by British novelist
Patricia Highsmith.
It told the story of a young American social climber. On
the one hand he is artistic and sensitive on the other,
willing to do anything, including kill, to carve out the
life he had always dreamt off.
Now, Italian director Liliana Cavani (whose background is
in Italian television production) will direct
"Ripley's Game," picking up where the first film
left off.
The sequel sees the amoral Ripley character (played by
Malkovich) decades after he got away with the first series
of murders , living in Paris, married and enjoying an
affluent bourgeoise lifestyle funded by nefarious dealings
on the art market.
When Ripley requires two of his rivals to be killed, he
enlists the aid of a sickly picture-framer, who undertakes
the assassinations to support his family.
The situation soon spins out of control, Ripley's Game has
begun once again....
Production began in the Venice region in January.
