John Malkovich as Tom Ripley
John Malkovich will
play the new Tom Ripley in "Ripley' s Game " by
the Italian director Liliana Cavani.
There's a new-look for Tom Ripley. After Alain Delon in
Full Sun (screenplay) by Rene Clement, Dennis
Hopper in the American Friend by Wim Wenders and
Matt Damon in Talented Mr. Ripley (screenplay) by
Anthony Minghella, which was released in France in March
2000, it is the turn of John Malkovich to lend his
features to the manipulator Tom Ripley.
The American actor will be, indeed, the star of Ripley's
Game which at this moment the Italian director,
Liliana Cavani (Night Porter in 1974) is filming.
Adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novel, the film will see
the creative character Ripley a little older than that
seen in the Talented Mr. Ripley, seeking to be
avenged for a public humiliation undergone at the time of
a reception.
The British actors Dougray Scott (the villain of Mission:
Impossible 2 , Ray Winstone (recently in Gangsters,
Sex and Karaoké [Love, Honor and Obey English title]
and Lena Headey (Fausses Rumeurs [Gossip],
released last summer in France) supplement the casting of Ripley's
Game, for which filming is to begin in the Padua area,
near Venice.
