Cavani Turns to "Ripley"

It's been seven years since Where are you? I'm here,
Liliana Cavani returns to the set to film Ripley's Game,
drawn from Patricia Highsmith's book that already inspired
Anthony Minghella with The Talented Mr. Ripley, and
Wim Wenders' The American Friend. In Cavani's film,
John Malkovich is Ripley, twenty years older than the one
portrayed by Matt Damon, but still lacking in scruples,
that plots a tremendous vendetta against a man who has
publicly insulted him, making it a matter for the Mafia.
The filming takes place between Padova and Asolo; then the
troupe will be moved to the hotel which Malkovich owns in
the south of France. In the cast, Chiara Caselli who
had appeared in Cavani's '93 film, Dougray Scott, Ray
Winston, and Lena Headey. Music will be by Ennio
Morricone. The production is by Fine Line Features,
part of Time Warner. While John Malkovich, when
finished, will turn to his first film as director, The
Dancer Upstairs, dedicated to Abimael Guzman, the
mysterious leader of the extremist Peruvian group Luminous
Sendero. Included in the cast is Laura Morante.
