(translated from the original Italian by Sylvia)

I'm here, Liliana Cavani returns to the set to film Ripley's Game, drawn from Patricia Highsmith's book that already inspired Anthony Minghella with The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Wim Wenders' The American Friend. In Cavani's film, John Malkovich is Ripley, twenty years older than the one portrayed by Matt Damon, but still lacking in scruples, that plots a tremendous vendetta against a man who has publicly insulted him, making it a matter for the Mafia.  The filming takes place between Padova and Asolo; then the troupe will be moved to the hotel which Malkovich owns in the south of France.  In the cast, Chiara Caselli who had appeared in Cavani's '93 film, Dougray Scott, Ray Winston, and Lena Headey.  Music will be by Ennio Morricone.  The production is by Fine Line Features, part of Time Warner.  While John Malkovich, when finished, will turn to his first film as director, The Dancer Upstairs, dedicated to Abimael Guzman, the mysterious leader of the extremist Peruvian group Luminous Sendero.  Included in the cast is Laura Morante.
