Pic stars Roth, Scott, Everett, Williams

LONDON -- Producer Jeremy Thomas and his sales company HanWay have stepped in to rescue "Cromwell and Fairfax," the $21 million historical drama that collapsed three weeks into production.

Lensing of the film, which began on Jan. 20 and was suspended Feb. 11 when the financing fell apart, is set to resume by the end of this week.

Pic's original financier, IAC Films, is no longer actively involved but will retain a credit and still has a stake in the production.

Pic's producer Kevin Loader of Natural Nylon worked with Thomas to remount the movie.

Bank funding is understood to be coming from DZ Bank, with a substantial equity investment via U.K. tax financier Visionview. Final details of the refinancing are being hammered out.

Mike Barker-directed film stars Tim Roth, Dougray Scott, Rupert Everett and Olivia Williams. It's a political drama set against the backdrop of the English Civil War in the mid-17th century.
