Nylon's 'Cromwell' tries to buck up

The producers of the $21 million British movie "Cromwell and Fairfax" are hoping to start shooting again this week, after they were forced to suspend production Feb. 11 when the pic's financing fell apart.

Natural Nylon's Kevin Loader and Bradley Adams are deep in negotiations with potential backers, including Fox Searchlight, which might bail out the project by taking North American rights.

The pic, directed by Mike Barker, stars Tim Roth, Dougray Scott and Rupert Everett in a 17th century political drama set against the backdrop of the English Civil War.

Shooting started Jan. 20 without a U.S. deal in place, which meant Natural Nylon and sales company IAC Films were unable to close their bank financing, and ultimately could not continue cash-flow to the production.
