The Z Review
Robbie Burns
After our news last week that there might be a Burns movie after all
comes the news that there are three productions under way of Robbie
Burn's movies. The first one up is rumoured to be getting Robert Downey
Jr. as Burns for Vadim Jean in a movie called Clarinda for Alloway
Productions. Alloway Productions is owned by James Cosmos who starred
alongside Mel Gibson in Braveheart. Vadim Jean had this to say about who
is writing the script "We have without a doubt the best man in Alan
Sharpe and the first draft should be ready soon". Official

Another Burns movie is in production for
David Hayman who is thought to be wanting Ewan McGregor to star as
Robbie Burns. Hayman has described the movie as "It's sexy. He
makes love to women on screen plus you see his creative side , his
political side and his battle against injustice and hypocrisy, as well
as his struggle against the land".
The third production in the pipeline is
Red Rose that Dougray Scott is being lined up for. Director Robbie
Moffat was quoted as "Burns fitted so much into his 37 years that
it would be impossible to do a biopic so we are concentrating on the six
years leading up to his death. We've been in contact with Dougray Scott
over the last three years and he relishes the chance to finally play
lead in a film which is something he's never done."
