Winstone Talks 'Ripley'
Ray Winstone has made a name
for himself playing tough British characters, but he's
about to get his big Hollywood break with his next
project.
The actor tells Popcorn
that he's due to begin working on 'Ripley's Game' this
week. The story is novelist Patricia Highsmith's sequel to
the successful 'The Talented Mr. Ripley', which starred
Matt Damon as the conniving Ripley.
The sequel sees an older, married and wealthy Ripley
continue his penchant for getting rid of people he doesn't
like by hiring a killer to eliminate two of his biggest
nemeses.
John Malkovich and Dougray Scott are also attached to
the project.
Strangely, Winstone doesn't seem to know too much about
his new role: "I haven't quite worked out what I'm
doing in it yet," he explains. "I'm going to get
together with the other actors - that's usually where you
get your ideas from, so I haven't set anything in
stone."
Luckily he is aware of the name of his character:
"I do know I'll play a character called Reeves."
Ray Winstone will be on your screens sooner than you
think, though, as his latest movie, 'Sexy Beast', is
released in the UK on January 12.
